Salih Özcan is one of multiple players to be linked with Leeds United in recent weeks, with claims coming from England that the FC Köln player is a possibility for the Whites.

These claims have reached Germany and been picked up by Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, a newspaper local to the Bundesliga club.

Whilst they don’t dismiss the idea of Leeds United interest, with that not being something they’d have an inside line on, they do give their view of the situation from the perspective of FC Köln and player.

According to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, Özcan ‘has not received a request’ from the Premier League club, and the 24-year-old midfielder is considering renewing his contract with FC Köln.

Özcan has a contract with the German club which lasts until June 2023, so a decision will soon need to be made on his future, to avoid him losing value in the final year of his deal.

Mainly a defensive midfielder, the Köln-born player has appeared in 17 Bundesliga games so far this season, scoring two goals.
