Marcus Edwards has been repeatedly linked with a move from Sporting to the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur are usually the club said to be considering signing him.
That’s partly because he used to play for them and when he left for Vitória Guimarães in 2019, Spurs secured 50% of a sell-on fee. He moved to Sporting in 2022 and Tottenham agreed to roll the percentage over to his new deal in Lisbon. That was negotiated down as part of the Pau Torres transfer, but Spurs still have more than 30%.
Thursday’s edition of Record reports Crystal Palace are keen on the player, who would be available for €20-30m this summer. Their interest comes from Oliver Glasner, who was keen on the winger when manager at Eintracht Frankfurt and has taken that interest to the Eagles.
Each time Edwards has been linked with Tottenham it’s been made clear the player would be enthusiastic, but for Crystal Palace it’s different according to Record.
The newspaper states Edwards is ‘not particularly enticed’ by the prospect of a move there, so Glasner may have to do some convincing.
