Not for the first time this summer, Roben Gosens is being linked with Crystal Palace.
Journalist Marco Conterio states the player may join the Premier League club in the ‘coming hours’. He adds that the Eagles are waiting for Marc Guehi to leave for Newcastle United and will then making an ‘official offer’ for Gosens.
Of course, they wouldn’t be seeing the 30-year-old as a replacement for Guehi, given he plays a different position and isn’t on the same level right now.
Indeed, the claims are questionable for a number of reasons. Crystal Palace don’t want to sell Guehi so it’s not as if it’s a transfer they’re just waiting to push over the line.
Gosens has been linked with a lot of clubs this summer and that makes it look as though agents are trying to drum up interest.
He has a Union Berlin contract lasting until 2028, having arrived at the Bundesliga club last summer. Playing mainly on the left of midfield, Gosens had a mixed time as Union Berlin narrowly escaped relegation.
Such a situation was something of a disaster after they’d finished fourth the season before.
Robin Gosens would be very fortunate if Crystal Palace do swoop in.
