Even though Manchester United’s pursuit for the signing of Frenkie de Jong seems to be moving slowly, there continues to be increasing signs of a positive outcome for this little saga.

Today, Catalan outlet Sport writes that the midfielder is making his way to Old Trafford ‘little by little’, as he’s ready to ‘accept the situation’.

A big factor in convincing him of the move is said to be the presence of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, with the report pointing out he’s the manager who ‘made him play the best’ in his career.

It’s said De Jong knows Barcelona need to sell him. Before committing himself, he wants to know the plan from ‘all his pretenders’, as he’d still like to play in the Champions League.

Regarding Manchester United’s negotiations with Barcelona, it’s claimed that the Red Devils’ offer, of €80m plus €20m, is still to convince the Catalan side.

The Premier League giants need to improve it a little, and then get to finally convince the player of the move.

Barcelona would be looking for a guaranteed amount of €80m, so the transfer could help fund their own moves for Ruben Neves and Raphinha.

On De Jong needing to be convinced about Manchester United and not wanting to leave the Camp Nou, it’s worth noting it’s been the Catalan media pushing that slant the most strongly.

The Catalan media tend to believe no player ever wants to leave Barcelona, and near enough every player not at the club would like to be, so it’s worth keeping that in mind.
