On Thursday evening, we covered a claim from Italy that Leeds United are moving to sign Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia. It was quite a big claim, given the attacker was repeatedly linked with Barcelona last year.
Valencia are in a complete financial crisis, struggling to pay their squad, and having to sell players. More exits are on the agenda, and it’s natural that clubs will look to take advantage of the situation.
For Leeds United, that means going for Rodrigo. Marca are backing up the story and say they’ve confirmed it themselves with sources from the Premier league club, which may well be from Victor Orta’s section.
A year ago, the player’s market value was €60m, according to the Spanish newspaper, and Atletico Madrid and Barcelona considered paying it. Now he’s lost around 60% of his value, and Marca say he can leave for about €25m.
Rodrigo’s aim for his next step was to play for a top European club, however, Marca state it’s ‘anyone’s guess’ what his plans are now given the situation in which he finds himself.
As it stands, there’s no claims of anyone else making a move. That’s good news for Leeds United, who are said to have received encouraging reports about the player and are ready to make their attempt.
