Bertrand Traoré is leaving Aston Villa for Villarreal, the Spanish media reports.

AS says this was an ‘express operation’ for the La Liga side, who were looking for late reinforcements in the transfer window.

The outlet reports that Traoré, whose contract with Aston Villa would expire at the end of the season, rescinded his deal with the Premier League side and is now a Villarreal player.

The winger had been struggling with physical issues this season, and only played for 41 minutes in six appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side.

He was fit enough to play in the Africa Cup of Nations, though, where he had three goals in four appearances, despite seeing Burkina Faso knocked out by Mali in the round of 16.

Traoré joined Aston Villa in an €18.4m move from Lyon in 2010. He leaves the club with 10 goals and eight assists in 62 appearances. In this time, he also had a loan spell at Basaksehir.

The Spanish media is still to come with more details about Villarreal’s signing and the length of his contract with the La Liga side.
