Kieran Tierney left Celtic and completed a switch to Arsenal on the deadline day of the Premier League transfer window.
After the 22-year-old’s move away from the Scottish champions, several reports have talked about the Bhoys looking to bring in a new player to fill in the void left by his departure, and Rosenborg’s Birger Meling is one of the players who has been linked with Neil Lennon’s side.
The Norway international faced Celtic during the Champions League qualifiers and also in the Europa League in the past, and former defender Jesper Mathisen, who is now an expert for TV2, believes the 24-year-old would be a good addition for the Hoops.
“Meling has been hunted a bit by Celtic. They sold their left back to Arsenal, so they have a hole there. Meling is a player they know well, because Celtic has played against Rosenborg a couple of times,” explained Mathisen.
Another Norwegian outlet VG explains Meling is one of Rosenborg’s players who is attracting interest foreign clubs, but do not specify names of any interested clubs in their report.
Meling has close to 200 games under his belt and his experience of playing in in the Champions League [only qualifiers] and the Europa League with Rosenborg could help Celtic, if he ends up joining them.
