On Wednesday, Foot Mercato stated Marseille have an agreement in place with Everton’s Neal Maupay. They are yet to agree a deal with the Toffees, who are demanding a fee to part ways with him.
The striker has less than a year left on his deal at Goodison Park and hasn’t made an appearance this season.
Le10 Sport now state the Ligue 1 side have made ‘good progress’ in their efforts to sign the Everton player.
Marseille’s Faris Moumbagna has suffered a serious knee injury, forcing them to look for a new striker.
They have identified Maupay as the main target, and Sean Dyche’s side have ‘agreed to let him leave’ only on a permanent transfer. Le10 state the Premier League side are asking €8m for the 28-year-old.
It’s claimed Roberto De Zerbi’s side and Everton are ‘getting closer’, likely with regards to his valuation. Marseille still haven’t closed the deal, but the report says their leaders are starting to become optimistic of acquiring the Frenchman’s services.
Maupay is also being courted by other clubs, but Le10 say he wants to join Marseille.
