On April 26th, Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra explained that Watford have held talks over signing La Equidad’s Élan Ricardo in the summer window.
Last month, La Equidad president Carlos Mario Zuluaga revealed that Watford have made an offer for the midfielder.
Fast forward to June and Sierra took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a negative slant on the situation.
The journalist has dismissed recent claims from elsewhere that the 20-year-old will join the Championship side this summer.
He claims the Hornets’ offer to the Colombian ‘was bad’, which is why the midfielder is ‘not going’ to Vicarage Road.
Sierra further adds the South American club ‘insisted a lot’ on the move, but the player’s desire was greater than that. This would be a blow for Watford, who have been chasing him for the past few months.
Ricardo is on the agenda of unnamed clubs from America and Belgium, and these teams could make an approach after he decided not to join Watford.
The midfielder has managed six goals from 26 appearances for La Equidad this year, and maybe this is a case of needing to improve the personal terms offer.
