At the start of this month, reports coming out of Spain explained Manchester City want Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto this summer.
On June 5th, Mundo Deportivo stated Barca CEO Òscar Grau has received ‘reliable news’ from Manchester about the Citizens interest in the 28-year-old.
The Spaniard and Nélson Semedo are the two recognised right-backs available at the Camp Nou.
According to Catalunya Ràdio’s program El club de la mitjanit, as relayed by Mundo, both players have ‘offers to leave’ the club. With regards to Roberto, it’s stated he is ‘being tempted’ by Pep Guardiola’s side.
If one of the two defenders ends up leaving Barca, the report adds Moussa Wagué could be the second choice right-back at Barca next season.
Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo states the La Liga winners will see a drop of €150m in revenue due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to journalist Miguel Rico, unless and until Arthur, Jean-Clair Todibo, Rafinha, Ivan Rakitić and others are sold, including ‘Roberto’s not-forgotten affair with Manchester City’, Barca will not be able to bring new players to the club.
With the Etihad club’s interest in the versatile player discussed again, it remains to be seen whether or not City will complete his signing this summer.
