FC Basel midfielder Taulant Xhaka has revealed he talks to Arsenal midfielder and brother Granit Xhaka regularly about joining him in Switzerland.
The older Xhaka brother has this week renewed his deal with the Super League side, extending his stay with them until 2027.
He will have been with the club for 15 years if he sees out that deal until it’s conclusion, having initially joined them in 2012.
He has never played outside of his home country, unlike his brother Granit, who left for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 before moving to Arsenal in 2016.
After something of a rocky period with the Gunners he is now starring under Mikel Arteta, playing a key role under the Spanish coach and earning back the love of the fanbase since he took charge.
His current deal at the Emirates expires in 2024 but Arsenal have an option to extend that for another year and seem likely to take that up sooner rather than later.
It seems that is a subject they talk about regularly and the Arsenal man is equally keen on the idea.
“We often talk about it,” Taulant told Blick.
“He is tied to Arsenal until 2024, maybe he will extend for another year. But then it would be possible, but he would have to come in 2026 at the latest.
“He also wants to play for the FCB again, together with me. Even if it’s only for ten minutes: I’ll do everything for that.”
