Striker Deniz Undav has insisted the ball is in Brighton’s court this summer when it comes to a permanent move to VfB Stuttgart.
The striker has been speaking to Kicker after the recent win over Augsburg, which continued the German side’s push for the Champions League.
Undav has been on loan with Stuttgart since the summer and has proven to be a smart signing for the Bundesliga side, bagging 19 goals and 10 assists in 32 games in all competitions.
The loan deal includes an option for Stuttgart to turn the move into a permanent one for around €20m, something the German side have been deliberating on for months.
They at first appeared reluctant to spend the money needed but have slowly been changing that stance in recent weeks, with it recently explained that securing Champions League football can help them pay that figure.
In the meantime, Undav has more than made it clear he would like to remain with the German side, having seemingly found his happiness again after a difficult first year at Brighton.
That’s a stance he’s now reiterated, but admits the ball is very much in the club’s court and not his own.
“Absolutely,” he said when asked if he wants to stay at Stuttgart.
“I’ve said what I want often enough. Now we have to see what happens. The ball is in Stuttgart and Brighton’s court.”
