On January 13th, Meczyki.pl journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk stated Leicester City are one of the clubs in the picture to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Kamil Piątkowski in the winter market.
This claim was backed up in the Dutch press by website 1908, who reported the Foxes are joined by Feyenoord in chasing the defender.
After a 4-4 draw against Bayern Munich, Red Bull Salzburg made a trip to Marbella at the weekend for another friendly clash, this time against Sparta Prague.
The Austrian champions confirmed on their official website that Piątkowski didn’t travel to Spain because he is in “transfer discussions with a foreign club”. With Leicester and the Eredivisie side are in the mix, name this club was not mentioned.
Monday’s Salzburger Nachrichten claims the centre-back is not present in Spain because he is in ‘contract talks’ with Brendan Rodgers’ side. There is no mention of any other club apart from Leicester in the report.
That’s about the only update the newspaper has about the Poland international, who has a contract until 2026.
Piątkowski made only three appearances this season for Salzburg as he was forced to miss over two months due to an injury.
