Over the past two days, Watford made concrete advances to sign Udinese goalkeeper Egil Selvik in the winter market.
Earlier this month, the Italian club signed him from FK Haugesund, and Watford made an approach to sign him on a permanent transfer in this window.
Watford were waiting for the 27-year-old’s approval, which they already received, and he travelled to England yesterday.
On Thursday, we covered multiple claims from Italy which stated Selvik was to undergo medical tests with the Hornets. He’s completed these examinations if a report from TuttoMercatoWeb is to be believed.
TMW state the Norway international has signed a contract with the Championship club and ‘is in effect a new Watford goalkeeper’.
He has already said goodbye to Udinese to join the English club, who now just have to make the transfer official. The report states this is the only thing that is missing for the stopper to join Watford on a permanent transfer.
TMW don’t mention the details of the contract and journalist Gianluca Di Marzio provides more on this. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state Selvik signed a contract until 2028 at Watford.
