The future of Manchester United defender Matteo Darmianhas been up for discussion over the past few weeks.
Several Italian clubs have shown interest in taking Darmian back to his homeland, but Inter Milan seem to be the most interested ones.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport on Saturday, Inter are working on the final details to sign Darmian on loan with the option to buy. Gazzetta say Inter could wrap up a deal for Darmian with the ‘blessings’ of Jose Mourinho, as the Manchester United boss has close connections to the Serie A club.
Inter are keen on signing Darmian due to his versatility. The 26-year-old can play on either side of the defence and also on the right side of a three man defence.
Gazzetta believe Darmian isn’t really in the plans of Mourinho, and that could force his exit from the Premier League club. This season so far would suggest they’re right about Mourinho’s plans.
Calciomercato said on Thursday that Darmian had given a ‘yes’ to an Inter move, and was keen on the idea as long as the clubs could agree terms between themselves.
