On Monday morning, the Spanish media claimed that despite Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing Clement Lenglet on a permanent deal, the player was still joining Barcelona’s pre-season squad.
It’s well known that following his loan spell at Spurs, the London side now try to find a way to keep him there, but with no agreement so far, the Catalan side had decided to have him training with his teammates.
That would have involved him turning up today for medical tests, and then training.
It turns out that as El Chiringuito now reports the return of Barcelona’s squad for training, they say Lenglet wasn’t there.
According to the outlet, the defender didn’t join the squad because he has a permit from the club to stay away until the 18th of July.
It isn’t explained why the La Liga side decided to keep him away, although that undoubtedly sounds like something to do with the move to Tottenham.
Mundo Deportivo today wrote that Lenglet is currently ‘waiting’ for Spurs to go and get him.
Meanwhile, Sport claimed there’s already an agreement between Tottenham and the player, and they now wait for Barcelona to agree a discount deal.
