Feyenoord have given midfielder Mats Wieffer permission to talk to Brighton and Hove Albion, with a move now close to being finalised.
That’s according to Voetbal International, who report that Feyenoord have given Wieffer the green light to talk to Brighton about personal terms.
They explain that as soon as these negotiations are completed, Brighton will report to those in charge at De Kuip to reach a final agreement on a transfer.
VI report that Wieffer is open to leaving Feyenoord after a successful spell that has seen him become champion twice and win the cup.
He wanted to go to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, but the deal was blocked. Feyenoord have now changed their stance and are willing to let him move to Brighton.
Thus, they have given him permission to speak to the Seagulls about personal terms, allowing him to work out an agreement on that front before then finalising a deal with Brighton.
There’s no mention of a potential asking price at this moment in time but there is a confidence an agreement can be struck, and a deal done quickly with Brighton once they’ve worked out personal terms with the player.
