Kanya Fujimoto is ‘getting closer and closer’ to joining Birmingham City after leaving Gil Vicente as a free agent.
That’s according to journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto, who reports that negotiations have been ongoing for a few weeks between Birmingham and the player.
Pinto states that there is optimism from the various parties that the transfer will be completed. Fujimoto is set to become a free agent this summer as his contract with Gil Vicente expires. He is free to decide his future and Birmingham have been making moves for a month.
A report in the middle of May insisted that Birmingham had made a bid for the 25-year-old and were leading the race for his signature.
It seems they believe that those talks have progressed well, and Fujimoto is getting closer and closer to being a Birmingham player. Pinto insists there is optimism about the deal being finalised at some point.
The midfielder could be the second free transfer to arrive this summer, with Phil Neumann having already arrived from Hannover 96 alongside deals for Taylor Garnder-Hickman and Alfons Sampstead in what should be a busy window for the Championship returnees.
