Real Betis are continuing to reap the rewards from their efforts to sign Pablo Fornals from West Ham United in 2024.

That’s at least according to ABC Sevilla, who cover the player today and how the efforts Betis went to in order to get him from West Ham have proven to be worth it.

They explain that Fornals joined Betis just over a year ago, with Manuel Pellegrini having kept an eye on him after their time working together at the London Stadium.

He and the club put ‘tremendous efforts’ into getting him, with West Ham manager at the time David Moyes opposing the exit until the last day of the January transfer window.

There were also ‘many difficulties’ that the various parties had to overcome due to his physical issues.

They’re now long forgotten, though, and Fornals is currently finding himself in his best run of form for some time playing in a central midfield role.

This is providing ‘significant benefits’ to the team, particularly going forwards, and his performance against Jagiellonia in the Europa Conference League was another demonstration of his growing importance and confidence.

He bagged a ‘spectacular assist’ in that game with a super forward ball to Cedric Bakambu that he converted to put his side 1-0 up in the game. It was a demonstration of Fornals’ quality and further confirmation that the battle to get him from West Ham a year ago was well worth it.
