Just a month ago, it was reported that AIK were interested in signing Ismaila Coulibaly from Sheffield United, who wasn’t playing much under either Chris Wilder or Paul Heckingbottom.
That trend hasn’t changed over the past few weeks, and Fotboll Direkt in Sweden have an update on the situation on Thursday.
They explain that the 23-year-old has ‘put everything else aside’ to prioritise a move to AIK and is ‘doing everything to break’ his relationship with Sheffield United.
Just a day or so ago, Thomas Bernstein, the sports director of the Swedish club admitted that there was a dialogue with both the player and the Premier League side.
However, he was wary about the feasibility of the deal due to the finances and competition involved.
Football Direct do bring some good news for AIK, and state Coulibaly ‘strongly wants’ a move there, and has ‘clearly shown’ their representatives ‘where he stands’, wanting ‘an offer shortly’.
What is ‘certain is that he wants to leave’ Sheffield United and ‘there are no other clubs’ in his mind other than the Swedish one.
That’s great news for AIK, while the Blades will have to either keep him against his will or let him go in the near future to avoid added drama.
