Wary at first about joining Burnley, that’s exactly what Maxwel Cornet is going to do.
The player, according to French journalist Saber Desfarges, is currently ‘undergoing a medical’, and the player will ‘sign’ for the Clarets for the next ‘five years’.
Cornet is passing the necessary tests to ensure he is healthy to play for the Premier League club, and is doing so in Lyon, before the ‘signature tomorrow’ of his contract.
Going the other way will be a ‘nice cheque’, believed to be somewhere around the €16-17m mark, which is expected to ‘unblock the transfer window’ for the Ligue 1 side in the arrival section, as they still want to purchase a few reinforcements before everything closes.
The move marks the end of a six year period at Lyon for Cornet, who started off as a winger but spent most of last season playing as a left-back under Rudi Garcia, which continued in the one game he played this year for Peter Bosz, during which he was sent off and ended 3-0 in favour of Angers.
