Following a decent spell at Tottenham on loan last season, Clement Lenglet wouldn’t mind extending his stay at Spurs if that was possible, as pointed out once again by Sport on Monday.
This is something Daniel Levy is working on as well, but there has been a lot of talk around the fee that would be paid to Barcelona as the London side take on all the player’s wages.
Because they’re so big, Tottenham don’t want to spend huge amounts on a transfer fee, and that’s where the sticking point is between the two sides.
Meanwhile, other clubs have come sniffing, with the likes of Juventus and AC Milan eyeing up the Frenchman for a potential deal.
The Turin side are the latest to join the fray, with Sport relaying the likes of Jijantes, who report that they have asked their La Liga counterparts about a potential deal after missing out on Franck Kessie.
However, they then add their own information, recalling that Barcelona ‘continue to demand €15m’ for their player, who ‘expects his situation to unblock this week’.
Tottenham are arriving at Gamper ‘with the intention of closing the negotiation’ after they managed to get a ‘verbal agreement’ from the player for a three-year contract.
Lenglet ‘continues to prioritise’ a move to Tottenham, and that’s what he’s holding onto for the time being regardless of who else comes knocking for his services.
