Sunderland have identified Sevilla’s Musa Drammeh as a transfer target, according to a report from Spain.
The La Liga side signed the winger from Extramadura in January 2022 and he’s been part of Sevilla Atlético [the club’s reserve team] since then.
Diario de Sevilla state the 22-year-old is a ‘very important player’ for Sevilla Atlético and his form has seen Sunderland take notice.
Sevilla initially found it difficult to find Musa’s best position on the pitch and that impacted his performances.
Antonio Hidalgo was the reserve manager last season and Diario de Sevilla say he ‘knew how to understand his qualities as a footballer and took full advantage of them to turn him into a player of constant danger.’
The Black Cats have sent scouts to watch the player and are pleased with his displays, so much so that they made an offer. The report provides no details of the proposal tabled by Michael Beale’s side but states Sevilla have ‘rejected it’.
That’s because the Andalusian club see Musa Drammeh as a key player for Sevilla Atlético and believe he could also serve their first team in the future.
His contract lasts until 2025 and Sevilla expect him to continue with the reserve team, at least until the end of this season.
It needs to be seen whether Sunderland will return with an improved offer and if they do, they will have to convince Sevilla to let Musa go next month.
