Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gómez has confirmed his representatives are in talks with Brighton and Hove Albion over a potential move this summer.
That’s according to Versus in Paraguay, who both cover comments from the midfielder today after Inter Miami’s 3-1 win over Toronto on Wednesday.
Gómez was linked with a move to Brighton throughout last month, with a report on the 26th explaining that they’d seen a first approach for him rejected.
There’s been no movement on that potential deal since then, with Brighton spending their money elsewhere for the time being as they strengthen for new manager Fabian Hürzeler.
Gómez could be another addition as Brighton continue to try and rebuild a team that sorely felt the losses of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister last season.
The 21-year-old has been earning a growing reputation in MLS since joining from Libertad in July 2023, managing four goals and three assists in 27 games to date.
That’s seeming attracted Brighton, who he now confirms are holding talks with his representatives, and he’s keen on the idea too.
“My representative is speaking with the club here and with Brighton,” Versus report him saying.
“I came here to make the jump to Europe; I hope it happens to me. Let it be what God wants.”
