Reports have been coming from Italy for around a week detailing Southampton moving towards a deal to sign Lyanco from Torino.
The Saints have been looking for a replacement for Jannik Vestergaard, having sold the central defender to Leicester City earlier in the transfer window. Lyanco has also been on the lookout for a move and spent two weeks flirting with Real Betis, seemingly convinced he’d be moving to the Spanish club.
For whatever reason, that didn’t happen, and then Watford moved into the picture. Just like Betis, the Hornets slipped away allowing Southampton to agree a deal with Torino.
Agreeing with the claims from Italy, the transfer fee is put at €7.5m, although there’s no mentions of bonuses this time. Lyanco is expected to sign a contract lasting until June 2025.
