Despite spending a huge amount of money on Richarlison from Everton, Tottenham were interested in another attacking player in Ruslan Malinovskyi.
The Ukrainian even wanted the move to Spurs above all others on offer, but, for some reason or another, the move never materialised, and the player stayed put.
What followed, however, wasn’t what he wanted, and Malinovskyi now finds himself struggling for game time at Atalanta, which could very easily work in Tottenham’s favour.
Tutto Atalanta have a big report on the player’s situation, and recall that he was once ‘very close’ to Spurs in the summer, even if the transfer never worked out.
Now, the 29-year-old is ‘unhappy’ in Bergamo, as per their headline, as he is ‘not at all happy’ with the fact many other players are ahead of him in the pecking order.
That’s why Atalanta ‘will try to sell the player definitively at reasonable amounts’ in January, which will give Tottenham a boost in their pursuit for his services.
It’s said Malinovskyi ‘already widely appreciated’ the idea of joining Spurs, and that could soon become a reality if Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte decide he could be the right man to help the London side continue their good start to the season.
Some of this is also backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport, who echo the website by recalling the player was ‘close to a farewell’ in the summer and the door for an exit ‘could be reopened’ in January.
