Back in May, West Ham United goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański revealed that his contract was automatically extended until 2024 after certain conditions were fulfilled last season.
The 38-year-old has been restricted to only three appearances [in the Europa League and the EFL Cup] as David Moyes has favoured Alphonse Areola ahead of him in the league this season.
The West Ham player was as a guest on Canal+ Sport’s Jej Wysokość Premier League, where he discussed Jarrod Bowen’s contract extension, and his comments are relayed by Sport.pl.
On Monday, the Europa Conference League winners announced the winger’s contract has been extended until 2030, and the former Arsenal stopper has admitted handing out such a long-term deal has ‘never happened’ at West Ham.
“When I heard this information, I went to Jarrod and asked if it was possible to arrange something for a longer time. This may be something new, related to how talks with new and current players will be conducted,” he said.
With the Pole having a deal until the end of this season, it was no surprise he was asked about his own future at the Premier League side.
When responding to it, Fabiański said jokingly: “When it comes to talking to me, I won’t go below five years.”
Should he decide to sign another deal at West Ham, the goalkeeper is likely to continue as a backup for Areola, and will have to settle for minutes in the cup competitions.
