Chelsea are reportedly about to close the signing of Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson.
Newspaper Sport today claims that the Blues will trigger the player’s release clause, which stands at €35m.
The operation is said to be in the advanced stages, as the 21-year-old ‘has agreed personal terms’ with the Blues and is ready to move to Stamford Bridge.
Sport highlights the good season Jackson had with Villarreal, with 13 goals and five assists in 38 appearances, saying that’s how he drew interest from Premier League clubs.
Chelsea were apparently not alone in the race to sign him, with the outlet claiming that former Yellow Submarine boss Unai Emery was also interested in the signing.
It’s said Aston Villa could even give the player the chance to play in Europe through the Conference League, but it seems they couldn’t go far in their pursuit.
Sport just don’t make it clear if Chelsea were the only club willing to trigger the player’s release clause, or if it’s his personal choice to move to West London.
Either way, Jackson is said to be ready to sign a five-year deal with the Blues.
