If you have followed our coverage of Wolverhampton Wanderers news, you will be aware that Boulaye Dia isn’t having the best of time at Salernitana these days.
The striker was a late target for Wolves during the summer transfer window, but the offer put forward by the Molineux side was rejected, which the player didn’t like, causing him to start a mini-rebellion that has dragged on until now.
Following a refusal to enter the pitch during a game, his club have asked for €20m in damages and pushed him to one side, leading to lawyers getting involved, with their managing director updating the situation to Calcio Salernitana.
Asked directly about Dia and what is currently happening following the post-Wolves fallout, he said: “There is an ongoing dialogue. The player has admitted his responsibility and behaviour that is not correct and consistent with the club’s healthy values. We will see in the coming days where it will lead.”
The offer put forward by Wolves at the time was a free loan with an option to buy set at €18m that wasn’t compulsory, which Salernitana found borderline offensive at the time.
Still, Dia wanted to go and made that very clear to his club, who still blocked him from moving, which led to all this mess.
There appears to now be hope it can be sorted somewhat amicably, but only time will tell, with a transfer away for the Senegal international almost certain in the summer, although whether Wolves are still interested remains to be seen.
