Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the clubs in the picture to sign Sparta Prague goalkeeper Joeri Heerkens, according to inFotbal.cz.

The report states Ajax, Wolves and Como have shown interest in signing the 19-year-old summer. Ajax have taken a step further and made an offer for the stopper, but Sparta Prague are reluctant to sanction a move.

Heerkens was born in Czech Republic and represented their U16, U17 and U18s before switching his allegiance to the Netherlands. He has played for the latter’s U18 and U19 sides so far.

Wolves would face a tough task to convince the youngster because his preference is to join the Eredivisie club. He revealed this during a chat with ESPN NL and his comments are relayed by Voetbal International.

“I have been an Ajax fan since I was little and I walked around in an Ajax shirt, but my position [within the selection] and the move must also be logical,” he said.

Ajax have already signed Vítězslav Jaroš on loan from Liverpool.

Despite his admission, the young goalkeeper has hinted he won’t close the door on other clubs. VI mention Wolves and Como interest, and the player said several clubs other than Ajax have approached his agent.

The Netherlands U19 international explained what he’ll take into account when deciding on a transfer.

“Some other clubs have also come, but my agent is going to look at what is concrete and then we will make a choice. It’s also not out of the question that I will stay with Sparta Prague,” Heerkens explained.

“It would be nice if it [move to Ajax] comes together, but again it has to make sense. I have to choose not only for the club, but also for my career. I want to play, that’s the most important thing as a goalkeeper anyway.”
