Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has become an opportunity for Premier League sides.

With the Old Lady only willing to give him a new contract if he accepts a pay cut, he’s set to become available in the summer window, despite the big fee he’d obviously cost.

Since the 22-year-old previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, he’s being linked to Manchester United, with newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport today writing the Red Devils would welcome him at Old Trafford.

Now in an update brought by Calcio Mercato, other Premier League sides such as Liverpool and Manchester City are named as potential destinations for De Ligt as well.

It’s pointed out that the defender is not accepting Juve’s pay cut, and in case someone offers him the same salary, which is €12m per season after tax, then he’d agree to leave the Old Lady for those interested clubs.

Such offers may even be expected from Liverpool and Manchester City, but not from Manchester United. It’s said the Red Devils even made contact for his signing, but ‘could not guarantee’ him that salary.

Calcio Mercato makes it clear that no offers have arrived at Juventus so far. The Old Lady seem to be waiting, as they don’t want to risk the player losing value.

Besides Liverpool and Manchester City, the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are said to be interested as well. All of them would have a positive answer from the player in case of a good financial bid, while Manchester United would still need to change their mind to match his demands.
