Kepa Arrizabalaga will return to Chelsea from Real Madrid this summer, with Andriy Lunin’s performances pushing a permanent deal out of the picture.
That’s according to AS, who say it is now 100% certain that he will be returning to Chelsea and a permanent deal won’t be explored.
The newspaper reports that of a current group of player’s whose contract at Real Madrid expire in the summer, Kepa is the ‘the only one who knows for sure’ that he won’t be continuing.
He arrived at the club on loan from Chelsea in the summer as a late replacement for the injured Thibaut Courtois but eventually lost his place to Lunin and has not been able to regain it.
Instead, the Ukrainian has impressed Carlo Ancelotti and his team and established himself as first-choice and now that Courtois is back, Kepa has been pushed to third place.
Thus, he will return to Chelsea once his loan deal comes to an end, although he has still proven to be a good team player, as evidenced by the help he gave Lunin in the penalty shoot out against Manchester City in the Champions League.
With two goalkeepers ahead of him, though, Madrid will be saying goodbye, and he will be returning to Chelsea, where his future is less certain.
