With João Félix unlikely to move to a top club this summer, Spanish outlet Marca today features an interesting story about the ‘middle-class’ sides who could sign him from Atletico Madrid.
The report names a few clubs who may go after the 23-year-old this summer. First of all, it’s recalled that back in January, he turned down a move to Aston Villa, and that should be considered one less option on the table.
Among the other clubs who have a chance to be Félix’s new destination, there’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It’s pointed out that Wolves are one of those ‘middle-class’ clubs who shouldn’t close the doors to him, and mentioned that his agent Jorge Mendes has a great relationship with the Molineux side.
Marca acknowledge that Félix should take a step down in his career, as following his time at Chelsea it’s unlikely he’ll have another great chance in the Premier League.
With this downgrade ‘in terms of glamour’, he should now accept a club with more modest aspirations, as ‘perhaps there is no other choice’. Wolves are presented as a good way out, especially because Newcastle, another club who were supposed to be in a similar baseline, now have bigger objectives after qualifying for the Champions League.
Aston Villa may have been perfect, had he not rejected the idea completely in January.
