Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has urged Manchester City and Pep Guardiola to consider signing Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.
The 55-year-old has been speaking to Tuttosport on several topics about Juve, including some of the players they could look at in the summer transfer window, and his quotes are relayed by Calciomercato.
Calafiori has been linked with a move to the Turin club and Ravanelli believes the defender could be a new John Stones for Manchester City, if he were to make a move to the Etihad.
When Ravanelli was asked if the 21-year-old would suit his former club, he said: “I like him a lot and it would be a great coup.
“Calafiori is good at restarting the action, as well as marking and has quality in passing. Furthermore, it seems to me that he also has a strong personality. In short, he would represent an excellent signing.”
Last summer, the defender returned to Italy when Bologna signed him from FC Basel, and he’s excelled under Thiago Motta’s orders this season.
His impressive performances have resulted in claims of interest from Juventus and a few other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.
As the interest in the Italy U21 international is growing, there hasn’t been any concrete claims yet of Manchester City chasing him.
