Manchester City will take on Leicester City in the league tie on Saturday and four days later will face Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Ahead of the European fixture, Spanish publication AS had an opportunity to have a lengthy conversation with Raheem Sterling and the interview has been published in today’s edition of the newspaper.
The England international was asked which player from Madrid he’d sign, if he was in charge at a club.
“Modrić. I’ve played against him a couple of times, especially with Croatia, and I don’t know, just the way he floats,” the winger said.
Sterling was inevitably asked if he has the level to play for Real Madrid, and told AS: “(Laughs). It’s one of those things… Now I’m at City and I’m very happy, but I also say that Madrid is a fantastic club.
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been rumours of the La Liga club’s interest in the 25-year-old. AS asked how he’d react to such reports linking him with a move away from the Etihad.
“It’s something you can see all the time, but I’m a City player and I’m enjoying the moment, even if things haven’t gone as planned in the Premier League,” the former Liverpool man stressed.
“We have a great opportunity in the Champions League, although I still say that Madrid is a fantastic club, in a country with incredible weather. But I repeat: I am very happy at City.”
