This is of course a big week for Barcelona, as Xavi is returning to the club as their manager. And following the new boss’ arrival, there’s obviously a lot of transfer rumours coming with him.
One of his needs would be to sign a centre-forward, since Sergio Aguero has no date for a comeback. And since the club are unlikely to spend too much in the January market, there are few options left.
Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has recently been named as one of them, and this information is backed up by Spanish outlet Fichajes.
They write that the Uruguayan star had already been linked to Barça before joining the Red Devils, and since he now wants to ‘recover his importance on the pitch’, he ‘seems willing to leave Old Trafford’ six months before the end of this contract.
However, it’s also claimed that Manchester United would demand a fee to let him go in January, and ‘paying isn’t an option’ for Barcelona, so that would only happen if the Red Devils let him go for free. Otherwise, Barça may go for another target, such as Cedric Bakambu, who is becoming a free agent in January.
Edinson Cavani missed the derby against Manchester City at the weekend due to an injury, and was unable to travel to Uruguay for the international break. As reported by his home country’s media, he’s been in Spain to take care of his muscle issue.
