Last week saw a lot of attention in the Italian media being placed on Francesco Camarda, who has now turned 16 and can sign his first professional contract.
The belief is that he will be staying at AC Milan, but there has been a fear some foreign clubs, which now include Manchester United, could steal him away before they get that chance.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Red Devils have joined the race for the young striker.
Other suitors, such as Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City, are also named, but the new addition remains Manchester United.
It’s said that everyone needs to ‘pay attention’ to Erik ten Hag’s team, who know an opportunity when they see one.
The Premier League clubs are ‘following the situation and keeping themselves informed’, as they also know that Camarda cannot join them until he turns 18 due to post-Brexit rules.
Over in Milan’s end, the idea was to try and reach an agreement with the player and his entourage, but wait until after July 1st before signing a deal, as that would allow the three-year deal (the maximum he can commit for at this age) to run until 2027 and not 2026 if he were to sign it immediately.
They have done so ‘in principle’, but we all know that money can talk, so it will be interesting to see if anyone can change their mind between now and July.
