Following the sacking of Bruno Lage and the eventual appointment of Julen Lopetegui as Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, the Premier League have turned their attention to La Liga for potential transfers.
Matheus Cunha and Felipe are two names the Spanish manager has ticked to improve the squad at Molineux, and now we have Isco, currently at Sevilla.
The 30-year-old only signed in the summer on a free from Real Madrid, and was played a fair bit under Lopetegui during the first half of the season, but a falling out with Monchi has forced him to seek an exit as early as January.
Hoping to kick start his career again under Lopetegui at Sevilla, the reality is ‘everything has gone wrong’, and while Jorge Sampaoli quite likes him, the issue with Monchi means there is now a ‘path of no return’ for Isco.
This is where Wolves come in, as their new manager is a big fan of Isco, and it’s said the Spaniard’s appointment means ‘a new door has opened for him in England’.
The Jorge Mendes influence at Molineux isn’t forgotten either, and while it isn’t outright said that Wolves will make a move for the Spanish midfielder, it’s heavily hinted at.
We’ll now have to wait and see.
