Thursday’s edition of Abendzeitung München has a piece explaining Bayern Munich assistant René Maric. They largely do so by making it clear he’s the polar opposite to Aaron Danks.
The latter left Middlesbrough in June in order to work with Vincent Kompany at the Bundesliga club, and has quickly made himself at home.
Abendzeitung München report that whilst René Maric is reserved and calm, Danks is the ‘loudest assistant coach’. The 41-year-old is clearly not intimidated at having swapped Championship club Middlesbrough for European giants Bayern Munich, and it’s explained he’s at the forefront of training.
During the club’s recent training camp at Lake Tegernsee, he was giving players commands, and interrupting training sessions to explain specific corrections on passes and positioning.
Abendzeitung München explain that Kompany believes Danks is one of the most talented English coaches there is, partly due to his time at Middlesbrough, and that’ll be why he’s being given so much importance at training.
He’s ‘responsible for the daily planning’, whereas Maric takes a quieter role in the background.
