Everton owners the Friedkins have been accused of potential “madness” at Roma, although it appears the latest drama at the Italian club may be misplaced.
Pagine Romaniste cover comments from journalist Riccardo Trevisiani, who has accused the American owners of plotting “madness” as reports link them with a move for Erik ten Hag.
The Italian side need to find a manager for the future, with Claudio Ranieri currently in charge on an interim basis and set to step down in the summer.
Ten Hag has been linked with a move as he seeks his first job post Manchester United and was recently spotted at the Olimpico. Reports explained he had been invited by the club and even later went to dinner with Ranieri and Mats Hummels.
He’s also reportedly visited the club’s training ground, but Roma have denied anything is on the cards. Trevisiani is unimpressed and accused Everton’s owners of planning something mad.
“The Americans have made many mistakes, I don’t think they want to take ten Hag: it would be madness,” he said.
Roma News, though, say his disapproval may be completely misplaced as they report that Ten Hag was not in Rome to meet with the Serie A club.
The ‘mystery’ of his trip and appearances was revealed this week to be nothing more than a personal one as a guest of Devyne Rensch, his former player from Ajax.
He did indeed have dinner with Ranieri and Hummels and visited Trigoria the next day, but that was just to meet with Rensch and watch the team. There has been no contact with the club and both they and Ten Hag’s entourage are outright denying everything.
Thus, Trevisiani’s anger and accusations of madness for the Everton’s owners may be misplaced and just another small addition to the never-ending drama that Roma can be.
