Leeds United chief Victor Orta has admitted they are hoping that their players can be ‘revalued’ during the World Cup.
Orta has been a part of the Ole Sports Summit this week, during which he sat down for an extensive talk with the Argentinian newspaper on a wide range of subjects.
Part of that discussion was about the World Cup and how that will not affect the players but the season in general and the Premier League.
Leeds could have several of their squad members making the trip to Qatar, with Tyler Adamas and Brendan Aaronson part of the USA squad, Diego Llorente and Rodrigo options for Spain and Mateusz Klich a regular for Poland.
Then there is the likes of Pascal Struijk, who is fighting to be a part of the Netherlands squad, Robin Koch the same for Germany and Rasmus Kristensen likely to be a part of Denmark’s squad.
It means Leeds will have a vested interest in the tournament, and Orta admits they’re hoping it can help some of their players to show themselves to the market.
“It sounds a bit selfish, but for your players to be revalued, ha,” he told the newspaper when asked for his World Cup hopes.
“That’s the best thing that can happen to a manager. That the United States does phenomenally well, with Tyler Adams, with Brendan Aaronson.
“That Llorente can play for Spain and hopefully Rodrigo will come on board. That Mateusz Klich can play for Poland. All of this benefits us as a club.
“Because maybe they show themselves in a showcase of high performance and there are teams that place a lot of value on that. With Rasmus Kristensen in Denmark and so on.”
