This morning, we covered Spanish newspaper AS bringing a ‘classic’ transfer rumour back, as Barcelona would now be interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal in the final days of the transfer window.

The 32-year-old is said to be an alternative to Alvaro Morata, who’s proving to be a more difficult target with no approval from Barça fans, and Atletico Madrid, who own the Juventus striker, not keen to loan him to a rival.

Now it’s the for the Catalan media to have a say on this rumour, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the Camp Nou side have indeed set Aubameyang as the ‘number nine’ they want at the end of the transfer window.

He ‘overtakes’ Morata.

According to their report, the operation is ‘advanced’, even though it also depends on the departure of Ousmane Dembele.

With Aubameyang not playing at Arsenal, it’s said this transfer would ‘favour the three parties’, as he could just move to the La Liga giants on a loan deal.

Now it’s all up to the future of Dembele, with his agent recently admitting that it ‘won’t be easy’ to find a way out in the final days of the transfer window. The Frenchman’s departure is the only way Barça could register a big new player in their squad this month.
