West Ham United are eyeing up a summer move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who could be allowed to leave Turin on a free transfer.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who back up claims elsewhere that the Hammers are keen on the former Arsenal man.
The newspaper explains that Juventus are looking at freeing up funds in their budget and wage bill in the summer, and both Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot could be up for sale as a result.
Both arrived at the club on free transfers, but their ‘less satisfactory than expected’ performances have led the club to doubt their futures.
This is largely because they are both on high wages, with Ramsey alone earning €8m plus bonuses.
The Welshman is aware the club want rid and is open to a move, which is where West Ham come into the picture.
They’ve already been linked with a move, and Tuttosport say while Ramsey is waiting for a proposal from a ‘top club’ he does not ‘despise the arguments’ that West Ham are making for him.
Juventus, as stated, are open to any deal and would even consider letting Ramsey leave on a free transfer if need be.
They, naturally, would prefer to get money for him, but any deal would not cost more than €10m, which would be well within West Ham’s reach, particularly if they qualify for Europe.
Either way, ‘the opening to a transfer is clear’ for the Welsh midfielder; the Hammers just need to convince him of a return to London first.
