Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Moise Kean over the past few weeks.
The Italian press has been clearly vocal about the fact that the striker has a release clause worth €52m in his current contract and it can be exercised in the summer.
That might be an appealing idea for Newcastle United, who could lose Alexander Isak in the next few months.
Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has now spoken about Kean’s future and clearly wants to keep him in Florence.
He told that to Domenica Sportiva and suggested that talks will be held with the Italian soon.
He said, as relayed by FiorentinaUno: “Let’s hope he wants to stay since he’s very happy in Florence.
“I’ve been with my wife for 50 years, if you’re happy why leave? This guy is very shy, he doesn’t talk much, but one day I’ll talk to him and see if I can convince him.”
There have been indications earlier this month that Kean isn’t too interested in leaving Fiorentina as he wants to carry on his impressive form to make sure that he plays for Italy at the World Cup in 2026.
Considering all of that, Newcastle United might have to look at other targets, if Isak departs.
While Kean could definitely have been an option, all things are pointing towards a likely stay in Florence beyond this season, even if the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal have also been mentioned as interested parties.
