Luis Palma’s struggles at Celtic in the first half of the season saw Brendan Rodgers’ side send him on loan to Olympiacos in the January window. The Greek club have secured a €4m purchase option.

Last month, we covered claims from Honduras which stated Olympiacos have a strong desire to buy him in the summer. This report surfaced days after he managed a goal and an assist against AEK Athens in February.

On April 5th, Fútbol Centroamérica stated the winger doesn’t want to return to Celtic Park and the Scottish champions are keen to get rid of him permanently. They also reported Celtic could lower the price if Olympiacos decide against activating the purchase clause.

While earlier claims talked about the Greek champions’ firm intention to buy Celtic man, EDN TV now state otherwise.

Olympiacos aren’t convinced on Honduras international, who has failed to score or register an assist for more than a month. EDN TV state they have now decided against exercising the purchase option.

The change in Olympiacos’ stance has put Palma ‘on a tightrope’ and his future remains uncertain. He’ll have to return to Celtic, where Brendan Rodgers isn’t keen on having the attacker for next season.

Greece’s Cosmote TV relayed by SDNA state the Celtic man is on José Luis Mendilibar’s blacklist. They also state Palma hasn’t convinced Olympiacos, who won’t make his stay permanent.

Palma’s contract at the Scottish club lasts until 2028 but the parties could look for a solution in the summer window.
