Oliver Glasner’s first coach, and close friend Klaus Roitinger, has insisted he thinks the manager will reject RB Leipzig this summer and instead move to Tottenham.
Sport. ORF have an interview with the coach today, in which he insists Tottenham is a far likelier destination for the Crystal Palace coach than Leipzig.
Glasner’s stock has continued to rise this season after he turned around a difficult start to the campaign to lead Crystal Palace to the FA Cup final and mid-table safety.
The Eagles are one of the more entertaining sides in the Premier League at this moment in time, with star players such as Jean Philippe Mateta, Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr scoring for fun and the likes of Adam Wharton running the midfield while Daniel Munoz is one of the best wingbacks in Europe.
It’s all thanks to Glasner, whose attacking style has proved to be a perfect match for Crystal Palace and the players in the current squad.
His work has not gone unnoticed, and he’s been heavily linked with a return to Germany, where RB Leipzig have him on their shortlist of candidates for the summer.
Roitinger, though, can’t see that and instead believes that Tottenham, who are likely to sack Ange Postecoglou, is a more likely destination for his former pupil turned friend.
“He is one of the best in the industry,” he said.
“Oliver has a clear line – and in every respect. Human and sport. He knows how to win the team over and to convey the processes perfectly to his team. First it goes into the heads of the players and then in the legs. That’s why it always takes a little time for everything to work.
“He made incredibly courageous decisions and ultimately prevailed everywhere. His coaching career has never had a crease. This is very unusual. With every club, they feel a certain longing for him when he is gone. That was the case with LASK, in Wolfsburg and also at Frankfurt.
“I honestly can’t imagine that he’s going to Leipzig. I rather appreciate he will land at Tottenham.”
