Issa Kaboré hasn’t made an appearance yet for Manchester City since joining them from KV Mechelen in 2020.

The Premier League club have sent him out on loan since then and last summer they let him join Benfica. The wing-back struggled for regular minutes with the Lisbon club and his temporary stay was cut short in January.

In the same window, Manchester City let the 23-year-old join Werder Bremen on a loan deal.

Bild now cover the Manchester City owned player’s future beyond this season. He’s been mainly used as a left wing-back and played just over 300 minutes from nine games for the German club.

The Burkina Faso international hasn’t made an appearance for over a month and has been left out of the squad for the last three league games. Werder Bremer head of first team football Peter Niemeyer had a chat with Bild to explain his situation.

Werder Bremen have no option or obligation to make the Manchester City man’s loan stay permanent. Niemeyer states Kaboré will return to the Etihad, where he has a contract until 2027.

“There’s fierce competition. Not just for starting spots. Getting into the matchday squad is also an issue. Ole [Werner, manager] is considering how to best assemble the squad,” he said.

“Felix can play on both sides, and we have four wingers. So, there are a few options for transfers.”

“The [Kaboré’s] situation remains unchanged. For now, it’s a loan deal, which we’ll put a stop to after the season. Then we can reassess the situation.”

Bild state everything indicates that Kaboré and his family ‘will have to move again’ in the summer window.
