Wednesday saw a surprise report from the Netherlands, stating Chelsea had made a €50m offer for Edson Alvarez.
Ajax have had a difficult summer, seeing several players leave and fighting over transfer fees. Whilst they’ve been successful from a financial point of view, the Dutch club are very aware there’s probably been too much change and are reluctant to let more key players go.
Alvarez isn’t the only player pushing to leave the Eredivisie champions, and given the transfer window for the Netherlands closed on Wednesday evening, they now can’t replace anyone who leaves.
De Telegraaf report Alvarez has skipped training on Thursday morning, as he tries to push a move to Chelsea through. It’s stated he’s received an offer which ‘cannot be refused’ from the Premier League club and is trying to make sure he can accept it.
Chelsea have made a €50m offer to Ajax for the midfielder and it’s explained that at this point that bid hasn’t been rejected, giving Alvarez hope that something can happen.
The Mexican has again informed Ajax he wants to go, and now it’s just a matter of seeing what the club decide.
