Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been told to “be more humble” and get off of his “Dragon Ball Z” cloud.
That’s according to journalist José Miguel Domínguez, who has criticised the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper for missing this international break with Costa Rica.
Navas has been a regular for his country since making his debut in October 2008, racking up 110 appearances and featuring in three World Cups.
He is arguably the star name of the current squad, having played for the likes of Real Madrid and PSG in a glittering career that’s seen him win three Champions League trophies and multiple titles in Spain and France.
At 36-years-old he is very much now in the twilight of his career and that has seen him miss out on the Costa Rica squad for this international break, when they will take on Martinique and Panama.
Costa Rica boss Luis Fernando Suárez recently insisted that was because he wants to look to the future, but Domínguez believes the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper may have had a part to play in it too.
“Keylor Navas should be more of a Tico, take off that Superman of Europe cape,” AS report him saying.
“At PSG, Keylor didn’t look at it, he didn’t see it. Donnarumma took him off the map. When he arrives in England he is still great, but he must be more humble, close the big time in Costa Rica.
“He has to wear the shirt against Panama, he has to be in the less important games. I understand that he is a goalkeeper of great stature, of high circumstances.
“But I think it’s time for him to come to his senses, to come down from this Dragon Ball Z cloud. Let him compete at the Central American level, let him go to the Gold Cup, let him be supported by the Costa Ricans and be a little more Costa Rican.”
