Nottingham Forest were active in the last transfer window, making over 20 new signings to bolster their squad.
The efforts put in by the Premier League side in the market have not helped their results on the pitch. They have managed only one win from their eight league matches this season.
This sees Nottingham Forest sit at the bottom of the table with four points, two points behind 17th placed Crystal Palace, who have a game in hand.
The current situation has seen questions raised around Steve Cooper’s future at the club. Recent reports in the English press have named Rafael Benítez as the dream target to replace the 42-year-old.
Benítez is without a job since Everton sacked him at the start of this year. He has the experience of managing in England from his time at Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United and with the Toffees.
AS have relayed claims made in the UK about the Spaniard and then given their own take on this case. It’s stated that Nottingham Forest have ‘sounded out’ Benítez, but he has ‘let it pass’.
In other words, the former Napoli manager has rejected Nottingham Forest, after they sounded him out.
